The week of April 13th, Waupun Area Jr/Sr High students participated in the Blues in the Schools Program, giving students the opportunity to learn about writing original songs, learning old Blues standards and developing musical performance skills. As a finale to the program, on Saturday evening, April 18th a group of Blues in the Schools musicians will demonstrate their new skills as they open for Billy Branch and Sons of Blues during a concert at our Historic City Hall Auditorium at 7:30pm.
Three time Grammy nominee Billy Branch was discovered by Willie Dixon, the "father of modern Chicago Blues” while in college, and since that time he has played on over 150 different recordings and delivered his cultural legacy around the world, having made over 70 international tours. During a tour of Turkey, Billy represented the USA in Turkey’s Parliament, teaching political party leaders to play harmonica!
