The Waupun Senior Center is a dementia friendly facility!  A purple angel sticker indicates that staff inside the building have received dementia awareness training and are sensitive to the needs of patrons who may have dementia.  This training is a fantastic opportunity for you business/organization to also become dementia friendly!  Interested individuals are also invited!  This one hour training will be followed by an optional dementia simulation that gives insight into life with dementia.  The simulation equipment was awarded through a grant from the Center for Aging Research and Education (CARE) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Nursing that City Adminitrator, Kathy Schlieve, wrote.  Training presented by Senior Center Director and Dementia Friendly Trainer, Rachel Kaminski.  This is a free event and open to the public.
Registration:  Call 324-7930 or sign up at the Senior Center office.  For business/organization qualitfication, at least 50% of the staff, including management, must be in attendance for the training.  After the training is completed, a facility walk through will be scheduled by ADRC of Dodge County Dementia Care Specialist, Robert Griesel.
